BLGC Of the Future

What We Do

We have a variety of different training, competition and event cover opportunities that our members can take part in and represent the club. These are laid out below and by clicking the buttons for each element you can find out more information. Pool Training

Article | What We Do

As a club we train in a local swimming pool from September to July every year only stopping over Christmas and Easter. We train on Friday's with sessions starting at 19:30pm and finishing at 22:00pm. We cater for ages 8 years old and up.

Beach Training

Article | What We Do

We train regularly throughout the summer months with all our members having access to multiple sessions a week in which we teach a variety of skills. This is all based at our beach based Club HQ @ Joseph Steps, Bournemouth. We also run winter training for our very keen adult members who each Sunday brave the cold water to keep fit.

IRB Training

Article | What We Do

Throughout the summer, on a Wednesday night, we train using our amazing inshore rescue boats. These sessions help the more experienced lifeguards at the club improve their IRB skills and knowledge to allow us to provide world-class water saftey cover at local events, such as the BHF pier to pier swim, and compete at an inernational level.

Event Cover

Article | What We Do

Bournemouth Lifeguard Corps is a skilled safety cover group that pride themselves on quality and professionalism. We have previously assisted in a range of water events both in our local area and beyond including Bournemouth Air Festival; Dartmouth 10K Swim and Brownsea Island Swim. Alongside that, the club also helps run ground events, such as baggage management or finish line processing.

Competitions

Article | What We Do

As a club we compete locally, nationally and internationally including the National Speed and Lifesaving Championships, local Twilight's and other lifesaving competition representing the club and sharing in achievements of all club members whether that is a personal best in a particular race or placing at podium level.
